DC Makes Progress on Bike Lanes, but Tweaks Still Needed

WAMU, National Public Radio: DC Makes Progress on Bike Lanes, But Tweaks Still Needed:  “That’s great news for Kishan Putta, the Dupont Circle ANC commissioner who lobbied for a smoother surface after getting emails from bicyclists who don’t want to use the 15th street bike lane anymore:  ’I heard from people who’ve had near accidents because they were avoiding potholes.  I heard from a father-to-be who wants to take his infant to daycare by bike but he’s afraid that all the bumpiness will bad for the child.’  Sam Herman loves biking down 15th street with his 3-and-a-half year old son Eli safely secured to the rear.  ”If they could make it smoother, that would be better.  Eli often complains to us about the “camels” underneath the bike lane because we keep going over their “humps!”  FOR AUDIO, CLICK HERE
